FreshPress Theme v1.2

Updated: April 11th, 2008 to v1.2

Our first theme release is for self hosted WordPress blogs, the theme is called “FreshPress“, based on the new admin area style of WordPress 2.5 “Brecker” and of course our own domain name.

The theme features a “Featured” article on the main blog homepage, along with showing more featured articles next to it. You can customize the theme to your delight and use it on as many blogs as you desire.

    4. This is awesome. I remember the first thing i thought when i saw the 2.5 admin theme was “they should make a frontend theme like this” and low and behold - here’s my solution! I think I’m gonna run this on my blog for a while…test it out at least.

    27. Which files have changed? Only index.php? I have translated the theme from english, that’s why I’m asking.
    Now “Previous Entries” shows up on every post, no just at the bottom as expected.

    28. Avilon, “Previous” and “Next” will show up for pages like http://www.blog.com and http://www.blog.com/page/2 and so on. If you see the bottom of this post you will see that it shows the next article posted, which is what the single.php file does.

    It’s working all good :-)

    29. Yeah, but on the front page there are “previous entries” links in every post, next to the comment info. And that’s not how most other themes do it. They only have it at the bottom of the whole index page. If you take this post as an example it would be below “What is FreshPress Themes?

    61. I really like this theme. Thanks for all the work you put into it. However, I am unable to get the “Featured” feature to work. I have followed the steps in the help, but it is just not working. The “Featured” section is just not appearing on the home page. Here is what I did:

    I created a category called “Featured.” I added a post to it. Using the wordpress template editor I changed category in the WP Query to “Featured” (I tried upper and lower case).

    I noted the category ID, in my case 46 and added that as instructed. Saved the template. Nothing has changed on the home page.

    Thanks in advance for any help.

    62. Paul - your category slug is “featuredarticles” simply change that to “featured” and you should be OK.

    You can do that under Manage > Categories > … in your WordPress admin area.

    65. One thing for sure this theme will give a familiar look to the eye of old-time blogger. And reading a blog with this theme will certainly make them cozy. Well, at least I am. Even if the admin panel had changed in WP 2.7.

    Anyway, great job!
